Flamingo Revue

Original Silk Painting by artist Diane Lublinski|
Original Silk Painting - 14" x 36"

Flamingo’s can live up to 20 yrs in the wild.  Reaching up to 5 feet in height, weighing  6-7 pounds,
with a wingspan of 55 to 65 inches.  They have webbed feet, can swim and are able to sit down.
Flamingos do fly, migrating in search of new feeding and breeding areas, often in colonies of tens
of thousands.  Flamingos are found in tropical or subtropical areas, the Caribbean, Central America,
South America, Africa, Europe and Asia.
A Flamingo's courtship display includes: marching, head bobbing,  and neck twisting. Flamingos
seem to be monogamous. It takes 3 years for a chick to get its full "Flamingo" color. They get their
pink coloring from the food that they eat. Chicks are born with a straight beak which curves as they mature.
